Job Description

Grandview Medical Center, a 422-bed regional referral center and tertiary-care facility, is located in Birmingham, AL., and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Grandview Medical Center offers programs and services in all medical and surgical areas, including Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, Women's Health, Mental Health, Digestive Diseases, Orthopedics, Physical Medicine and Rehab, Sports Medicine and Emergency Care. Pharmacy Tech II Cert PRN

About the Job:

  • Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions.
  • May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department.
  • Receives and stores incoming supplies.
  • Verifies stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • Typically reports to a manager or supervisor.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

 

Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and write, prepare and interpret written instructions and make arithmetical calculations.
  • Completion of a formal technician training program with satisfactory grades in all modules. 
  • Registered with Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician. 
  • Certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB)       
  • Sedentary work performed in office setting. Requires constant hearing, speaking, vision and repetitive hand movement.  Requires attention to detail despite frequent interruptions.
