Education:

A high school diploma or GED

Requirements:

• Completion of a formal surgical technologist program or comparable previous surgical technology experience (preferred)

Experience:

• Scrubbing experience obtained either through completion of a formal surgical technology program or previous scrub experience.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for care and safety of patients of all ages who come under his/her care.
• Responsible for assisting physicians during procedures by having all instrument, equipment, and supplies needed for surgical procedures.
• The primary focus of this position is that of scrubbing on procedures and passing instruments to the surgeon.
• The surgical technologist may act as second assistant when required to do so.
• The surgical technologist participates in precepting of other surgical technologist and scrub nurses.
