Job Description

Radiology Technologist - Full Time, weekends position in the Radiology/Imaging Unit at Lutheran Health Network - Lutheran Hospital

  • Full Time - 32 hours per week
  • Call, and holiday rotation required. Call response time: 60 minutes 

Job Summary:

  • According to the guidelines of Radiology Diagnostic Protocol and under the direction of a Radiologist/Physician and Supervisor, Diagnostics performs radiographic procedures as ordered by physician and processes images for use in patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Verifies accuracy of procedure on x-ray requisition with physician written order. Makes necessary revisions before performing the procedure.
  • Makes identification of patient according to hospital policy before performing the procedure.
  • Obtains procedure-related patient history from patient, physician, and/or patient chart and documents in procedure exam data comments for interpretation correlation.  Provides pertinent diagnostic test results in the same manner.
  • Completes Radiology Contrast Screening form before intravascular contrast injection; follows Radiology protocol as to patient care and contrast injection procedure.
  • Prepares oral contrast for the procedure according to protocol.
  • Communicates with patients, family, and visitors in a positive professional, and helpful manner at all times.
  • Clearly explains radiographic procedure process to patient before procedure begins and provides follow-up information as to receiving results of findings for every patient.
  • Instructs and safety assist patients in assuming physical position necessary according to procedure protocol and/or direction of a physician.
  • Maintains constant observation of patient condition during the procedure.  Demonstrates safety and caring toward patients at all times.  In case of an adverse incident, provides follow-up documentation according to department and hospital protocol.
  • Provides radiologist or physician with patient clinical history and procedure-related information.
  • Responds to the medical team in a helpful manner regarding questions related to equipment operation, procedure performance, or technical skills.

Education: 

  • Successful completion of a radiological diagnostic education from an accredited program.

Registration/Certification: 

  • Current licensure with registration (or eligible for completion within a year of employment) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  •  Current Indiana State Board of Health General Certificate for Radiographers.  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required within six months of employment
