Clinical Coordinator - Medical Surgical

Position Purpose:

• Serves as a clinical role model and supervisor of unit in support of Unit Director.
• Accepts the responsibility and accountability for the entire unit during a designated shift and the evaluation and treatment of the populations. 
• He/she is responsible for planning, supervising, and evaluating the nursing care of patients and for correlating the nursing process, the medical plan of care and policies. 
• The Clinical Coordinator maintains a positive clinical environment, ensuring delivery of quality care while promoting cohesiveness within the department and the hospital.
• Provides direct patient care when necessary. 
• Reports to the Director Medical/Surgical Unit.

Supervision:

• Responsible for compliance with overall nursing practice standards of the specialty area
• Directs and monitors the RAI (Resident Assessment Instrument) process: MDS, Care plan conferences, records, and billing
• Responsible for compliance with standards during assigned shift (Reports to House Supervisor)
• Uses established principles of delegation and supervision to direct the activities of all licensed and non-licensed care givers and support staff in the delivery of patient care during their assigned shift
• Uses independent judgment to ensure optimal delivery of patient care and appropriate use of available resources
• Assist with the scheduling of nursing employees
• Initiates methods for cost containment and quality improvements
• Additional duties as assigned
