Position Details: Accountable for all aspects of development, management, and financial success of a multi-site specific environment. Plans, directs, organizes and develops the functions within five(5) hospital HIM departments within the market. Responsible for oversight and guidance of market consolidated HIM functions to include as applicable: HIM Unbilled/Revenue Cycle, Master Patient Index (MPI), Medical Record Imaging and Chart Management, and ROI. Works collaboratively with the Facility Privacy Officer (FPO) regarding the implementation of Corporate Privacy policies and procedures for the network in accordance with HIPAA and applicable State/Federal privacy regulations. Responsible for providing health information management leadership and coordinating HIM services across the multi-facility integrated healthcare system to ensure data quality, integrity, confidentiality, retention, and security of health information; to include meeting Federal/State Regulations related to these areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.

Ensures all medical records for the network are maintained according to medical staff rules and regulations, TJC and other applicable state/federal regulations.  Effectively manage change and foster improvement and innovation within budgetary parameters for HIM and the Network.  Establishes, reviews, and updates department policies/procedures and job descriptions necessary to maintain an effective and efficient HIM department.  Improves subordinate performance through ongoing counseling, coaching, delegation, and feedback practices.  Develops monitoring tools to provide feedback to staff related to meeting job performance expectations.

2.

Leads the development and promotion strategic Health Information Management model for Network functions and services across multi-hospital sites.  Strategic planning to ensure the appropriate allocation of resources within HIM for the network.  Fosters the continued development of the network model.

3.

Demonstrates creativity, intelligence and discretion in planning, organizing and coordinating Network HIM department functions. Tracks, monitors, reports, and leads facility action planning as applicable on HIM KPI indicators including but not limited to:
?        Operative Reports completed with 24 hours of procedure  >= 98%

?        History and Physical Reports completed within 24 hours of admission or prior to procedure >=98%

?        Delinquency Rate <= 25%

?        Scanning TAT <= 24 hrs 

4.

Collaborates with business partners and other departments to solve ongoing issues that impact the department/organization goals and/or patient care delivery.  Ability to develop and implement appropriate workflow improvements from data collected through problem solving.

5.

Organizes the HIM departments in a structure that results in efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness.  Incorporates quality improvement data into departmental goals.

6.

Develop strategies, partnerships and plans to maintain and continuously improve levels of internal and external customer service.

7.

Develop and articulate vision and performance expectations to management and HIM staff.  Develop, coach, support, and mentor management and direct report staff to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory/accrediting agencies.

8.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor

Preferred Education:

Masters

 

Required Experience:

?      Minimum of 4 to 6 years of management experience in HIIM

?      Must present in a professional manner

?      Multi-facility experience

?      Experience in project management

?      Must possess critical thinking skills

?      Must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the facility including staff, physicians, and the C level administration. Requires effective written and verbal communication skills
